Let Discord hear what you're playing.

AudioTwizz reads whatever your Windows music player is playing and shows it on your Discord profile: title, artist, album, cover art and a live progress bar. All taken from your own files.

AudioTwizz is Windows-only. It needs Windows 10 or 11, so open this page on your PC to install it.

AudioTwizz now has extensions. The first one is FL Studio: it reads your project name and shows Working on your project, with a live timer and a picture you choose.

Playing FL Studio live

Example only. The picture is the FL Studio logo that comes with the extension. You can swap in your own.

Reads the project name

Picks it up from the FL Studio window. Changes when you open another project.

A timer that makes sense

Counts from when you opened the project, or when FL Studio started. Your choice.

Keep unreleased tracks private

Hide the name and it just says “Working on a project”. Line 2 turns to Idle after the minutes you choose.

Runs next to your music

It’s a second status, so your music status stays as it is. It follows Pause, Privacy mode and auto-hide.

1. Open the Extensions tab

It’s in the AudioTwizz sidebar. Everything available is listed there with a Download & install button, or use Install from file for a .twizz you downloaded.

2. Install in one click

Every download is checked against its SHA-256 before it’s installed. Extensions can add their own tab, like FL Studio.

3. Give it its own Discord app

In the Developer Portal make an application named FL Studio and paste its ID into the tab. That name shows after “Playing”.

4. You stay in control

Turn it off in its own tab, or press Remove on the Extensions page. The rest of the app isn’t touched.

Does it work with FL Studio?

Yes. Install the FL Studio extension from the Extensions tab in AudioTwizz. It shows Working on your project name with a live timer, and it needs its own Discord application named FL Studio.

Are extensions safe?

Extensions run code on your PC like any program, so only install ones you trust. Downloads are checked against a SHA-256 fingerprint before they install, and each extension is a single .twizz file (plain Python code) you can read in any text editor first.

Does the FL Studio extension install anything in FL Studio?

No. It reads the project name from the FL Studio window title, so nothing is added to FL Studio and nothing is hooked into it. You can hide the project name or turn the extension off.

Where does the FL Studio picture come from?

You choose it. FL Studio's logo belongs to Image-Line, so AudioTwizz doesn't ship it. Pick your own copy in the FL Studio tab, or upload it as an art asset on your Discord application.

Browse the Marketplace.

The same list you see in AudioTwizz > Extensions. Each extension is a single .twizz file hosted on GitHub Pages. It’s plain Python code with its own file extension, so you can open it in a text editor and read it before you install it.

Extensions run code on your PC. Only install ones you trust. Official means made by AudioTwizz. Extensions aren’t sandboxed, and the tags on a card describe what the extension does, as stated by its author. Every download is checked against its SHA-256 before it’s installed.

Install from inside AudioTwizz: Extensions > Download & install, or Extensions > Install from file for a .twizz you downloaded here. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Image-Line or FL Studio.

Why not just use Discord's Spotify connection?

You can, if Spotify is all you play. Discord's connection only knows about Spotify. AudioTwizz covers everything else you listen to on your PC.

You'll get a yes or no here.

What else it needs: Windows 10 or 11 and the Discord desktop app running. Regular Discord, PTB and Canary all work. Discord in a web browser can't show it, because browsers aren't able to receive a status from another program.

Set up your player.

Most players work the moment you press play. If yours doesn't, find it below. Each card shows what AudioTwizz looks for and what to do about it.

foobar2000

Progress bar
  1. Play a song

    Start any track in foobar2000.

  2. Press a volume key

If the song name shows above the slider, you're done. AudioTwizz can already read it.

  3. Add Windows media controls

foobar2000 reports to Windows media controls through an SMTC component, so install one. Without it AudioTwizz falls back to the title bar, which has to end in [foobar2000], so keep that default.

MusicBee

Progress bar
  1. Play a song

    Start any track in MusicBee.

  2. Press a volume key

If the song name shows above the slider, you're done. AudioTwizz can already read it.

  3. Keep the title bar as it is

If the volume flyout stays empty, AudioTwizz reads the title bar instead. Leave it ending in - MusicBee and don't hide the title.

VLC

Progress bar
  1. Play a song

    Start any track in VLC.

  2. Press a volume key

If the song name shows above the slider, you're done. AudioTwizz can already read it.

  3. Keep the title bar as it is

If the volume flyout stays empty, AudioTwizz reads the title bar instead. Leave it ending in - VLC media player, which is VLC's default.

AIMP

Progress bar
  1. Play a song

    Start any track in AIMP.

  2. Press a volume key

If the song name shows above the slider, you're done. AudioTwizz can already read it.

  3. Keep the title bar as it is

If the volume flyout stays empty, AudioTwizz reads the title bar instead. Leave it ending in - AIMP.

PotPlayer

Progress bar
  1. Play a song

    Start any track in PotPlayer.

  2. Press a volume key

If the song name shows above the slider, you're done. AudioTwizz can already read it.

  3. Keep the title bar as it is

If the volume flyout stays empty, AudioTwizz reads the title bar instead. Leave it ending in - PotPlayer.

MPC-HC

Timer only
  1. Play a song

    Start any track in MPC-HC.

  2. Press a volume key

If the song name shows above the slider, you're done. AudioTwizz can already read it.

  3. Expect a timer, not a bar

MPC-HC doesn't report to Windows media controls, so AudioTwizz reads the title bar, which ends in - MPC-HC. Discord then shows an elapsed timer instead of a progress bar.

Still nothing? Open Settings in AudioTwizz and check Window title order, which tells the title-bar backup which way round your artist and title are. Then try the troubleshooter.

Download AudioTwizz.

Two files, nothing else. AudioTwizz checks for updates on start and every six hours, and asks before it installs one.

Windows only. These files won't run on Mac, Linux or phones.

Before you install: cover art is uploaded by default. To show a cover from your own files, AudioTwizz uploads a small 512x512 copy to an anonymous image host, and anyone with the link can see it. To opt out, open Settings, then Display and switch off Upload covers from my files so Discord can show them. See everything that leaves your PC.

Antivirus warnings: Because AudioTwizz isn't code signed yet, a few antivirus engines may show a false detection on the installer. Open the VirusTotal report to see exactly which engines and what they say, and compare your download's SHA-256 with the one above to confirm it's the real file.

Set up in five steps.

Discord needs an "application" to show your music under. It's free and takes about two minutes.

  1. Run the installer

It installs into your user folder, adds a Desktop and Start menu shortcut, and installs Python if you don't have it. No admin rights needed.

  2. Create a Discord application

Open the Discord Developer Portal, sign in, and choose New Application. Its name is what shows after "Listening to" on your profile.

  3. Copy the Application ID

On the General Information page, copy the Application ID. It's a long number made only of digits.

  4. Paste it into AudioTwizz

Paste it in the installer when it asks, or later in Settings, then press Save.

  5. Press play

Start any music with the Discord desktop app open. Your status shows up within a couple of seconds.

Updates you can undo.

New versions reach everyone without a new download. AudioTwizz asks first and checks every file. If a new version misbehaves, one button takes you back to any earlier version.

Latest version v8.0

Go back to an older version

Open Settings, then About, press Go back to an older version and pick any earlier version. Your settings are backed up first, and the newer version isn’t offered again until you check for updates yourself.

Checks on its own, asks once

On start and every six hours, or press Check for updates in Settings. You get a single “Update now?” with what’s new, and it won’t ask again until you restart.

Checked before it’s installed

The download is verified against its checksum first, so a bad download can’t break your install.

Your settings stay put

They live in their own folder, separate from the app files an update replaces.

Status not showing?

Four quick checks fix most problems. Answer each one and the fix appears under the step that needs it.

  1. Is AudioTwizz running?Look for it in the tray, next to the clock.
  2. Is “Display current activity” on in Discord?Discord settings, Activity Privacy.
  3. Does your song show in the Windows volume flyout?Press a volume key and look for the song name above the slider.
  4. Is privacy mode off?The hide hotkey, or rules for chosen apps, fullscreen and quiet hours.
Answer each check. Nothing is saved or sent.

Common questions

Nothing shows on my profile

Check that the Discord desktop app is running, that AudioTwizz shows presence as on, and that Discord's Activity Privacy setting allows sharing your activity. You also can't see some details on your own profile, so ask a friend to look.

It says "Add your Application ID"

No Application ID is saved yet. Paste it in Settings and press Save first.

It says "Waiting for Discord to open"

AudioTwizz can't find the Discord desktop app. Open Discord, and AudioTwizz connects on its own a few seconds later.

It says "Presence is off"

AudioTwizz isn't sending your status right now. Switch presence back on in the app.

It says it couldn't upload the cover

None of the image hosts answered. Your status still works without a cover, and it tries again on the next song. You can also turn off cover upload in Settings.

It says "Invalid Application ID"

The ID is wrong. Copy it again from General Information in the Developer Portal. It must be digits only, with no spaces.

Do I need Python?

The installer looks for a compatible Python and installs one for you if it can't find it. This happens once.

Does it work with Spotify and my browser?

Yes. Anything that reports to the Windows media controls works, and streaming songs get a button that opens the song.

Can I hide my status?

Yes. Press Ctrl+Alt+H, or set it to hide automatically while certain apps run, in fullscreen, or at set quiet hours.

How do updates work?

AudioTwizz checks for a new version on start and every six hours, asks before installing, then closes and reopens by itself. You never need to download the installer again.

Can I go back to an older version?

Yes. Open Settings, then About, press Go back to an older version, and pick any earlier version. Your settings are backed up first, and AudioTwizz won't offer the newer version again until you check for updates yourself.

How do I remove it?

Run AudioTwizzUninstall.exe from the download section above.

What leaves your PC.

Your music files stay on your computer. To show a status, AudioTwizz does send a few things over the internet. Here is exactly what, and how to switch it off.

Your status goes to Discord

The song title, artist, album and progress, so Discord can show them on your profile.

Cover art is uploaded to an image host

Discord can only show a picture it can download itself. So a cover read from your file is shrunk to 512x512 and uploaded to an anonymous image host (litterbox, catbox, uguu, tmpfiles or 0x0.st), and the link is passed to Discord. Anyone with that link can see the image. This is on by default. Turn it off in Settings with Upload covers from my files so Discord can show them.

Missing details are looked up online

The song title and artist are sent to iTunes and Deezer to fill in missing covers, albums and lengths. Switch it off with Fill in missing covers, albums and lengths. Links for the "Open this song" button come from song.link.

Extensions: the list and downloads come from the AudioTwizz update site. The FL Studio extension reads your FL Studio window title on your PC. If you choose a picture for it, only that picture is uploaded to an image host so Discord can show it. Your project name goes to Discord as the status text, unless you hide it.

Cookies and browser storage

This website sets no cookies and has no ads, analytics or trackers. If you allow it, your light or dark choice is saved in your browser's local storage, along with your cookie choice. Nothing is sent anywhere. Like any website, the page loads its fonts from Google Fonts and its version info from a third-party update server, so those services can see your IP address. Change cookie settings.

Update checks go to our server

The app asks the update server whether a newer version exists, and which older versions you can go back to. Your settings, including your Application ID, stay in a folder on your PC.

Leaving? Here's how to remove everything.

Three steps take AudioTwizz and what it stored off your PC.

  1. Run the uninstaller

Close AudioTwizz (your Discord status disappears with it), then run AudioTwizzUninstall.exe. It removes the app, its shortcuts and the startup entry.

  2. Delete your saved data (optional)

Settings, logs and cached cover links live in their own folder. Paste %APPDATA%\LocalPresence into the File Explorer address bar and delete the folder. It holds your settings, your Application ID, the error log, your music library cache, the cache of cover links and, if you connected Spotify, the saved sign-in.

  3. Cover copies on image hosts

If you left cover uploads on, small copies of your covers were put on anonymous image hosts, and AudioTwizz can't delete them for you. Most expire on their own: uguu after about 3 hours, tmpfiles after 1 hour, litterbox after 72 hours and 0x0.st after about 20 days. Only catbox keeps files until someone removes them. Switch off Upload covers from my files so Discord can show them in Settings, then Display, before you uninstall if you don't want any more uploaded.
